Climate Change and Water Exploitation as Co-Impact Sources on River Benthic Macroinvertebrates

چکیده
Climate change can affect freshwater communities superimposing on other major stressors, such as water exploitation, with effects still poorly understood. The exacerbation of naturally-occurring periods low flows has been reported a hydrological effect diversions, severe impacts river benthic macroinvertebrate communities. This study aimed at assessing long-term modifications low-flow events in large lowland Italian possibly associated to climate and the these events, intensified by withdrawals, macroinvertebrates. A 77-year dataset daily discharge was thus analyzed through Mann-Kendall test Sen’s method investigate main parameters. Moreover, macroinvertebrates were collected during that occurred from 2010 2015 three sites downstream representing different conditions impairment. After possible differences taxonomical functional composition between impairment conditions, redundancy analysis ordinary least squares regression performed link benthos metrics environmental (hydrological physico-chemical) characteristics. An increase duration reduced summer detected long term, magnitude significantly altered withdrawals. These features shaped both structural characteristics assemblages, highlighting need for more environmentally-sustainable resource management current context change.

متن کاملFuture climate change impact on hydrological regime of river basin using SWAT model
Hydrological components in a river basin can get adversely affected by climate change in coming future. Manipur River basin lies in the extreme northeast region of India nestled in the lesser Himalayan ranges and it is under severe pressure from anthropogenic and natural factors. Basin is un-gauged as it lies in remote location and suffering from large data scarcity. This paper explores the imp...
متن کاملAnalyzing Climate Zooning and Climate Change Effects on Discharge of Jajrood River Basin
In this study, for climate zoning and determining the effects of climate change on discharge of Jajrood River Basin, data from 9 available stations in Jajrood River Basin were used. In order to create climatic zones in the Jajrood River Basin, multivariate cluster analysis was used. To validate the data, discriminant analysis was employed. For investigating the effects of temperature and precip...
